Teja Bhai and Family Review.

Teja Bhai and Family , a romantic comedy film directed by Dipu Karunakaran, starring Prithviraj and Akhila in the lead roles released on Aug 30th, with full packed welcome on theatres. There is nothing new that Dipu Karunakaran's film offers us, and though its fast and loud, there isn't anything special in it that we haven't seen at least a dozen times before.
After catching flicks Urumi, Veetilekulla Vazhi and Manikyakallu Young Superstar Prithviraj arrives this time with a fun entertainer, "Teja Bhai and Family". The plot of the film says 'Teja bhai'(Prithviraj) is the last word in Kuala Lumpur underworld, without notice of Tejabhai,no business will hold on at Kuala Lumpur. Teja bhai ,the underworld don surrenders his heart to a girl named Vedika(Akhila Sasidharan), who is a social worker. But Vedika's father Damodarji wants his daughter to be married to a man with high social status and family heritage. The power of love makes Teja to change the dress of underworld don and he decides to make a good family and for this he flies to Kerala. Teja changes his name to Roshan, and also be friend wid Swami Vashyaa Vajas(Suraj Venjarumoodu). The thread takes hilarious turns with the arrival of Vedika's relatives to join in Teja's family. To be fair Prithviraj's comedy does work in some places but does not have the steam to propel the film to a higher plain. The main culprit for the film is the storyline or the lack of it. It is a kind of patch work on incidents and situations picked up from various films. Prithvi delivers a stylish and whopper performance as per script and underlines the fact that he isn't called talented for nothing. Akhila Sasidharan had nothing to do big, just point out her looks and acts like a charm. Suraaj Venjaramoodu, whose comic capers had started turning stale, elicits quite a few laughs in the film. Jagathy and Jagdish are good. Performances from other cast Suman, Prem Kumar, Ashokan,Kochu Preman,Indrans, Bindu Paniker, Manju Pillai, Shakeela etc are even. Techinically, direction of Dipu Karunakaran is just average as compared to his last film Crazy Gopalan, and the script nothing deliver more. Cinematography by Shyamdutt, Editing by Manoj and Art by Gokul Das is just normal one. Music of Deepak Dev enriches the film with 'Madhurakinavin Remix', 'Pranayanila..' and the theme music is apt for a entertainer. Overall 'Teja bhai and Family' is a light-hearted film, a no-brainer and can be watched if you are not looking for thought-provoking stuff. Its a movie type of 'dont think too much what is happening !' Now the choice is yours!!!
